“The people who have survived the sword
have found grace in the wilderness.”
(Jeremiah 31: 2a)
In collaboration with Unfaulted.org, Mission EDIFY is utilizing its non-profit arm, The Wilderness Initiative, to launch a trauma-informed, Christ-centered pilot program in support of youth aging out of foster care. This year-long, donor supported initiative is purposed to guide young women ages 18—25 towards emotional healing and forgiveness with a goal of adapting the curriculum for men in 2027.
Youth served by Unfaulted.org are some of the most marginalized young adults in North Texas. Many suffer the effects of prolonged trauma, unstable childhoods, and deep emotional wounds. This pilot offers something many have never experienced—a pathway to healing that is both biblically rooted and emotionally restorative—with regard to religious wounding.

“One of the deepest needs we see
is for emotional healing. Trauma impacts relationships, decisions, and identity; a young adult’s capacity to build a stable life. That’s why this partnership is so meaningful.
Wendy’s testimony and trauma-informed, Christ-centered curriculum speak directly to the wounds our youth carry. This pilot provides preventative and restorative support that we simply cannot provide without collaboration.
We believe these young women deserve a better path. With your support, we can build it together.
For years, I lived in a state of normalized survival—confused, fearful, and unable to understand why my relationships and life choices continually reflected the chaos of my childhood.
Even with strong academic performance and work ethic, unresolved trauma shaped my internal world in ways I could not escape on my own. Like many abuse survivors, I gravitated toward relationships and environments that mirrored my earliest years, not because I wanted harm, but because my brain had adapted to surviving mistreatment.
In therapy, I learned that prolonged or repeated Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACE’s) create deeply ingrained relational templates. This is child formation at its worst—and it follows youth into adulthood unless someone intervenes.
Without steady emotional support and spiritual guidance that defends human dignity, cycles of abuse, instability, and exploitation are perpetuated—regardless of one’s knowledge, intelligence, or faith.
Your support expresses respect for their lives between moments of conception and natural death. Cycles of abuse are only prevented when human dignity is defended and restored.
